With the NASA strategic objective to advance knowledge of Earth, the NASA Clouds
and the Earth Radiant Energy System (CERES) project is designed to improve our
understanding of the relationship between clouds and solar and longwave radiation.
This website supports the ongoing CERES project by providing access to the CERES
cloud object data. This dataset is based on a cloud object identification algorithm
using inputs from the CERES instantaneous footprint SSF data. The cloud object data provide a
unique way to diagnose the relationship between cloud properties and the top-of-atmosphere
shortwave and longwave radiation for specific cloud types. This information can be
used to study the effects of cloud on the Earth's climate system.

CERES website.
